The radio modems used with this
program are the MU-1 1252MHz* for the Japanese market.
*Note: The MU-1-R 434MHz is prohibited for use in Japan by the Radio
Low.
Outline
Using this program you can
evaluate the communication functions of the MU-1 from your own personal computer
via the Internet.
You can directly experience actual data communication using radio between two
MU-1 units that are located at Circuit Design, Inc., Japan.
The MU-1 units controlled by the program are 1252MHz MU-1 LAN units for the
Japanese market, and the radio transmission rate is 9,600 bps.
*Request
There is only one set of MU-1 units (2 units) available at Circuit Design for
this service.
In order to allow as many users as possible to try out the evaluation, access
time is limited to 10 minutes each time. After 10 minutes, the program
finishes automatically. If one of the programs cannot connect to the
system, both programs stop automatically. Please try reconnecting again
after 10 minutes.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
*Information In
some cases you may not be able to access the program due to networkissues
at your location. Please contact your network administrator.
● Communication Screen 1
When you enter a
command in the command line and click the Transmit Command button, the command
(@) that you issued and the command response (*) are displayed on the monitor.
At the same time the data is sent to Unit 2.
Data is sent twice
from MU-1 Unit 1
↓
Data is received
twice by MU-1 Unit 2
Issue the data
transmit command to transmit 30 bytes of ‘?’ characters from equipment number 1.
@DT1E????????............??????
●
Communication Screen 2
This is the screen
when the data is received from equipment number 1.
The received data is invoking the receive response.
When you make an actual program, the data is processed in order from (*).
*DR=1E???????...........???????
‘1E’
indicates the received data size, and as a decimal it means 30 bytes. ‘1E’
consists of ASCII characters so a process is necessary to convert it into a
numerical value.
●Air Monitor Screen
If you click the Air Monitor Start button, the MU-1 acquires the RSSI level for
approximately 1 second for each channel, displaying the levels as a graph.
The screen is the air monitor for the MU-1 for the Japanese market. The
MU-1-R 434MHz has 64 channels.
Explanation of the Program
Control programs
run for each of the screens shown above for the two MU-1 units.
Because the MU-1 is a transceiver modem that can communicate two-way,
either program can issue commands equally.
*Request
Please gain a basic understanding of how to use the MU-1 from the manual
before using the online evaluation.
MU-1-R 434MHz Operation guide
●Click the
buttons in the ‘@GI’ and ‘@RA’ columns to display the commands in the
command line. Click the Transmit Command button. You can
also enter commands directly in the command line and issue them by
pressing the Enter key.
●In order to
protect the system, the buttons in the ‘@UI’ column will not actually
write the commands in the MU-1 units. By clicking these buttons
you can read the internal status of the units. In this case it is
not necessary to click the Transmit Command button. ●Clicking the Create Transmission Data
button creates a data transmit command with the characters specified in
Data and the number specified in Size.
●Clicking the Create ACK Request
Transmission Data button creates a data transmit command that requests
the return of an ACK signal from the target station.
●Clicking the Create Packet Test Command
button creates a command that sends the created character string to the
target station and returns the character string without modification.
●Clicking the Hex checkbox displays the
commands, responses and receive responses as hexadecimal numbers. ●If you click the
Air Monitor Start button, the MU-1 acquires the RSSI level for
approximately 1 second for each channel, displaying the levels as a
graph.
When the air monitor is running, only the Air Monitor Stop button can be
operated.
While one of the programs is running the air monitor, if you click the
@CT01 button in the other program, test waves are emitted for 10 seconds
only, and the results are displayed on the air monitor screen.
*Since the units are located very close to each other, adjacent channels
are affected, but this is not abnormal. This is not a problem for
actual operation of the equipment. ●To reset all the
settings, click the Reset @SR buttons in both programs.
The values of the MU-1 parameters after resetting are as follows.
@BR=57600、@SB=01、@PB=NO、@CH=0B(11ch)、@UI=0000、@GI=00、@EI=01、@DI=01 ●When the
connection is made, the elapsed time is displayed above the Quit button.
If you have finished your evaluation before the 10 minutes elapses,
please quit the program to allow other customers to access the
evaluation.
●To quit the
program, click the Quit button on either of the screens. Both
screens close.
*Restrictions
1.If
another customer is using the program, an error occurs. Please
quit the program and try again after 10 minutes.
2.It
is not possible to issue write commands related to basic operation of
the MU-1 (@UI, @BR, @PB etc.). By clicking these buttons you can
read the settings of the units.
3.There
are some commands that are not permitted with this system (@IZ, @SY
etc.).
4.The
‘/W’ command option that fixes the values in the EEPROM cannot be used.
How to Run the Program
Download the zipped program file to a suitable folder and decompress it.
Double click the JAR file in the decompressed MU1_EV-e folder to start
up the program.
The program automatically attempts to connect to the MU-1 at Circuit
Design, Inc. Japan.
Program folder name: MU1_EVe
Program file name: MU1_EVe.jar
*Caution
1.The
Java Runtime Environment version 5.0 is required to run the program.
Download: http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
2.The
JAR file itself is also a compressed file. If double clicking the
file starts the decompression mode, please set your archiving utility to
exclude JAR files from decompression.
Notes
1. Since the MU-1 is connected via the Internet, complete control of the
MU-1 may not always be achieved. 2.
If a communication error occurs, restart the program.
3.
Please do NOT issue commands other than those specifically for the MU-1.
4.
Please do not attempt unlawful access.
About the System
The system is configured as follows.
1.The
modem used is the 1252MHz band MU-1 LAN interface kit MU1-LIK for the Japanese
market.
The MU1-LIK comes with the Lantronix XPort device server. The program is
controlled using TCP/IP, and a virtual COM port is not used.
2.The
transmitted power of the two MU-1 units is 10mW, and the communication range is
about 50cm. Therefore there is no attenuation of the electric field
intensity.
3.The
MU-1 units are located in an environment with a relatively high level of noise
from computers and the like, so they show high floor nose level.
4. Programming language: Java
