Installing the USB Driver

After reading the instructions for the device installer in this document, click the "Install" button.
This document explains how to install on Windows XP.

[1] Installation
Connect the USB cable provided with the MU2-USB.
Connect the cable to the USB socket of your computer.

The Found New hardware Wizard stars. Select "No, not this time" and click the "Next" button.


Select "Install from a list or specific ............"and click the "Next" button.



Perform the following steps.
1. Select "Search for the best driver........" and check the "Include this location.....". 
Ensure that the "Search removal media" is unchecked.
2. Click the "Browse" button and specify the following folder in the CD-ROM (H drive is used in the example here).
"H:\MU2_USB_Driver\CDM 2.04.06 WHQL Certified"
3. Click the "Next" button.
 




The window below will appear on Window XP.
This is because the MU-2 USB driver has not gone through the Windows Logo testing process, but it works without problem. 
Click "Continue Anyway" to proceed with the installation.




The window below will appear to show the installing status. Wait for the installation to complete.




When installation completes, the window below will appear. Click the "Finish" button. 
The installation of the serial port driver will follow, please wait till the next installation starts.




The Found New hardware Wizard stars. Select "No, not this time" and click the "Next" button.



The window below will appear to install the serial port driver . Select "Install from a list or specific ............" and click the "Next" button.




Perform the following steps.
1. Select "Search for the best driver........" and check the "Include this location.....". 
Ensure that the "Search removal media" is unchecked.
2. Click the "Browse" button and specify the following folder in the CD-ROM (H drive is used in the example here).
"H:\MU2_USB_Driver\CDM 2.04.06 WHQL Certified"
3. Click the "Next" button.
  




The window below will appear on Window XP.
This is because the MU-2 USB driver has not gone through the Windows Logo testing process, but it works without problem.

Following the installing status window, the window below will appear . 
Click the "Finish" button to complete the installation. 




[2] Confirmation of installation

Confirmation using the Device Manager in the Control Panel 
Confirm that the driver is installed properly in the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and the port for the MU2-USB is set in the "Ports(COM & LPT)". In the window below, the serial port is set to COM3.




[3] Uninstallation


To uninstall the USB driver,  use the
FTClean.EXE in the "\MU2_USB_Driver\FTClean" folder in the CD-ROM. 

Select "Other" as the VID, input "13A7" as the ID and "1004" as the PID.

# Caution
*Be sure to disconnect the MU2-USB from the computer first. If you uninstall the driver with the MU2-USB connected the computer, the Windows registry will not be deleted normally. This may result in problems when you next install the driver.

* Be sure to input the specified IDs. Inputting a wrong ID may result in uninstalling another driver. 

When start the FTClean, the window below will appear. Click the 'Clean System' button. 


Click the "OK" button on the panel below. 


Click the "Yes" button on the panel below to continue. 


Click the "No" button on the panel below.  
The uninstallation of the driver will start automatically. 


During the uninstallation, the message below may appear. 
Disconnect the MU2-USB from the computer and click "Continue" button.
